A Day of Authentic Hospitality in Manikganj
Nestled in the heart of Dhaka Division, Bangladesh, Manikganj emerges as a serene place, serving as the administrative headquarters of both Manikganj District and Manikganj Sadar Upazila. This green and relatively pollution-free town recently played host to an esteemed delegation, including prominent British Bangladeshis such as Jyotsna Islam, the Mayor of Redbridge, London, and Cllr Donna Lumsden, the Mayor of Barking and Dagenham.
The day unfolded with a vibrant series of events, commencing with a warm welcome at the Manikganj Municipality Mayor’s residence and continuing with delightful breakfast, lunch, and dinner gatherings. Sham Islam, the CEO and Founder of Cinebuzz Films Private Ltd, as well as Mostafijur Rahman, CEO of Abunx, joined the delegation.
The visit extended to a school for disabled children, where the delegation enjoyed spontaneous cultural shows featuring talented students. The highlight of the visit was the interaction with the compassionate individuals managing the school for disabled children, led by the driven Luna Sharmin, the dedicated Principal. The delegation engaged in meaningful conversations with other teachers and, most importantly, the special-needs children, gaining valuable insights into their lives.
The itinerary also included visits to an English medium Madrasha for boys and girls, founded by the benevolent Mayor of Manikganj Municipality, MD Ramzan Ali, as well as exploring Manikganj’s traditional Gur (jiggery) fair organized by the District Commissioner’s office. Later, the delegation attended a flamboyant cultural show and a respectful reception hosted by the Mayor of Manikganj Municipality, Ramzan Ali as well as her hospitable spouse.
At the heart of the experience was the Mayor of Manikganj Municipality, Alhaj Md. Ramzan Ali, a distinguished educationist and the Founder President of Bangladesh Mayors Association (MAB). The visiting team had the privilege of engaging with key members of Manikganj Municipality, including Mr. Taslam and Mrs. Jasmin.
The warmth and development initiatives undertaken by Manikganj Municipality left a lasting impression on the visiting delegation. Especially, Jyotsna Islam, the Mayor of Redbridge, London, and Cllr Donna Lumsden, the Mayor of Barking and Dagenham, thoroughly enjoyed the whole day and learned from the precious interactions. In fact, the experience was a testament to the vibrant culture, hospitality, and progress of this picturesque town, making it a memorable day for all involved.
