The thirty Sylhet Utshab took place on the 27th and 28th of January 2024 in the southern part of Kolkata. The event was made possible with the support of KPC Group, which played a crucial role in hosting it. The event brought together a diverse group of individuals, including members of the East Bengal community from various countries, mayors, corporate executives, political and community activists, and members of the East Bengal community from Bangladesh.
The event was meticulously planned and flawlessly executed, perfectly capturing the essence of a small Sylhet celebration. In addition, I would like to express my appreciation to the organisers for their careful preparation and for extending a personal invitation to me, as well as to my colleague, Mayor of London Barking and Deganhal, Cllr Donna Lumsden, and my consort, Cllr Sham Islam.
Councillor Sham Islam commended the many people who participated in the event and characterised it as an exceptional experience. He conveyed his ardour for the occasion. The organisers have genuinely excelled in their efforts.Members of the Sylhety community sometimes find themselves in similar situations and communicate with each other using the Sylhety dialect. The Sylhet community has showcased its exceptional qualities again through a magnificent demonstration.
Upon receiving a summons of this nature, irrespective of our location, we promptly exhibit unity and unite to assist. Due to my profound admiration for this event, I will arrange a Sylhet Utshab in London.Upon my return, I shall promptly communicate with my colleagues in London.
According to multiple individuals, this festival has served as a source of inspiration and has instilled a sense of pride in the people of Sylhet, fostering togetherness among them.
After engaging in conversations with several people, it is believed that this festival has served as a source of inspiration for everyone and has significantly increased their confidence in feeling proud of Sylhety and the sense of unity it fosters.
