A Bangladeshi student on BBC’s 100 list

Sanjida started her study at Nandil Pilot Govt Girls School Mymensingh and later joined Gurudoyal Govt College.

The BBC’s list of the 100 most powerful women in the world for 2022 includes Bangladeshi student Sanjida Islam Choya because of her work to end child marriage.

According to the BBC, Sanjida has assisted stopping at least 50 child weddings in Bangladesh.

She decided to speak out against child marriage after being moved by a school presentation.

Sanjida, currently enrolled in college, has a group called Ghashforing that consists of her friends and professors.

Fifty child marriage incidents have so far been submitted to the police by the team.

The other Asian Women on the list include Fatima Amir of Afghanistan, Aye Nyein Thu of Myanmar, Velmariri Bambari of Indonesia, Sirisha Bandla of India, Priyanka Chopra Jonas of India, Sandhy Eknaligoda of Sri Lanka, Sneha Jawale of India, Kimiko Hirata of Japan, Ayesha Malik of Pakistan, Nigar Marf of Iraq, and Milli of Thailand.
