Zakir Khan, Associate Director of Canary Wharf Group, was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of East London for his outstanding contributions to community service and youth sports encouragement. Additionally, he was presented with an honorary doctorate by the Greater Sylhet Development and Welfare Council in the United Kingdom.
The reception was held at their headquarters and was attended by chief guest Ahbab Hossain, Speaker Councilor of Tower Hamlets, Cllr. Jyotsna Islam Islam, Deputy Mayor of Redbridge, councillors, community activists, and senior organisation officials.
On behalf of the GSC South East Region, General Secretary Fazlul Karim Chowdhury, Treasurer Sufi Suhel Ahmed, Vice President Mamunur Rashid, and Maulana Abdul Quddus welcomed the guests on behalf of the GSC.
The GSC East London Branch presented flowers to Abdul Malik Kuti, General Secretary, Taj Uddin, Saleh Ahmed, and Churuk Mia.
Zakir Khan has a long history of serving the community’s residents. According to the Tower Hamlets speaker, he has always served as a role model for young people. Cllr. Jyotsna Islam, Deputy Mayor of Redbridge Council, congratulates Zakir Khan on serving as a role model for the Bengali youth and encourages others to follow in his footsteps.
