violation of the constitution of the officials of the Greater Sylhet Development and Welfare Council in the UK (GSC), the largest organisation of the Bengali Committee in Britain, the current executive member and candidate for the general secretary position, read a written statement. The press conference was held at a local restaurant in East London last Monday, 16 January 2023. In the press conference organised to demand the implementation of patrons’ recommendations and directives and the cancellation of defective voting delegate membership, the Patron of GSC immediately.

So the situation has reached such a level that only the respected patrons of the organisation have the organisational legitimacy to restore the GSC and return it to the members. Chairperson post-candidate Masood Ahmed, Treasurer post-candidate Mrs Helen Islam, GSC leaders former Chairperson Community Leader Nurul Islam Mahbub, former general secretary veer freedom fighter Syed Abdul Qayyum Qaiser, M Tajul Islam, Fazul Rahman, Ranju among others spoke at the press conference. Ahmed, Nurul Islam, Ghiyasuddin, Rezaul Karim Sipar, M Jamal Hossain, Jalal Uddin, Kadar Uddin, Syed Abdul Karim Sayem, and other leaders.
In the press conference, the leaders accused the NAC of violating several provisions of the GSC constitution. The leaders raised allegations of arbitrariness in the Election Commission’s formation and the commissioners’ resignation, the illegal one-sided appointment of commissioners, and numerous errors in the voter list and nomination papers. They said that they have been using the organisation, its funds and its constitution for their interests and repeatedly hacking them to retain power for six years after being elected for two years. They demanded to immediately refrain from such misdeeds and cancel the illegal and farcical elections to protect the GSC and implement the recommendations of Patrons. Along with this, they called upon all the conscious people of the community to come forward to watch this traditional institution.
