Tigresses Failed in Asia Cup

Despite the Bangladesh women’s squad struggling with their batting and bowling performances, they are determined to bounce back in their upcoming matches.

India has set a modest target of only 81 runs, focusing on seizing every opportunity to secure a victory. Following the conclusion of the Asia Cup, the Tigresses are regrouping and preparing to showcase their true potential in the upcoming matches.

As the event reaches its final round, India has successfully advanced to this stage, demonstrating their strong form throughout the tournament.

Harmanpreet Kaurera’s leadership has been instrumental in India’s consistent performance, and the team is confident as they prepare for the championship match on Sunday, where they will face off against the winners of the other semi-final matches, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat first in the first semi-final of the Women’s Asia Cup Cricket Tournament, which took place in Dambulla on July 26. However, despite some setbacks, there were some positive performances from the team.

Dilara Akhtar made a strong start by hitting a six and scoring six runs before leaving the field. Murshida Khatun, although not performing as well as in the previous match, still contributed with four runs.

The team underwent some changes in the batting order, and despite losing six wickets and scoring 44 runs, Nigar Sultana, the captain, showed outstanding persistence in leading the team.

Moving forward, the team will look to improve their run rate in the upcoming matches.

In the recent match, Nigar displayed outstanding batting skills by scoring 32 runs from 51 deliveries, including two fours, and successfully remaining not out with five balls remaining.

Additionally, Swarna Akter achieved a score of 19 runs from 18 balls. Radha Yadav and Renuka Thakur Singh made significant contributions by taking three dismissals and scoring 10 and 14 runs, respectively, during four overs.

The opening batters for India, Smriti Mandhana and Shefali Verma, displayed a confident and proactive approach as they aimed to reach a modest target early in the match.

At the start of the inning, they led the charge for the Indian cricket team. Smriti accumulated 55 runs from 39 balls, maintaining her impressive performance from the moment she reached a half-century.

Shefali contributed 26 runs from the opposite end of the pitch. India secured victory in just 11 overs without losing any wickets and emerged triumphant after the match.
