Saudi Arabia hosts IPL’s mega auction

Saudi Arabia hosted the Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction, which took place in Jeddah from November 24 to 25.

Dubai hosted the tournament’s last auction, marking the second year in a row that the IPL auction has taken place overseas.

The mega auction, held every three years, is two days long and differs from the annual auctions. All ten IPL franchises assembled their squads for the next three seasons (2025-27).

One thousand five hundred seventy-four players signed up for this year’s auction, with registrations closing on 4 November 2024. We have yet to announce the names of 409 overseas players and 1,165 Indian players on the list.

Thirteen Bangladeshi cricketers also registered for the upcoming auction, but no team picked anyone. These registered players include 322 capped players, 1,224 uncapped players, and thirty players from Associate Nations.
