DESK REPORT, DHAKA
Bangladesh’s national cricket team will play a three-match one-day international (ODI) series against the West Indies.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has already received the selectors’ squad, and they will soon announce the team.
Shakib Al Hasan has retired from two other formats, Test and Twenty20 (T20), except ODI. He wants to continue playing in the ODI format until the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy.
However, Bangladesh’s only ODI series before the Champions Trophy will be the upcoming series against the West Indies.
Newspapers say BCB has instructed selectors to drop Shakib’s name from the squad for the series against West Indies. Shakib gave some conditions for the inclusion of his name in the series. However, the board responded to the conditions negatively.
Following the board’s instruction, the selectors also submitted a squad without Shakib’s name, stopping the internationally famous allrounder’s international cricket career.
