Ritu Akhter’s exceptional performance at the prestigious Malaysian Open Athletics Championship unquestionably earned her a well-deserved medal. In the high jump event, the record-breaking athlete from Bangladesh secured the silver medal by effortlessly clearing a height of 1.75 metres, solidifying her second-place finish.
On June 12, the Bangladeshi athlete won a competition at the Darul Makmur Kwaton Stadium in Pahang, showcasing exceptional skill and determination. This achievement, including a gold medal and a remarkable vertical jump of 1.76 metres by Ritu, signifies considerable progress in Malaysia.
Additionally, Zaheer Raihan of Bangladesh showcased impressive speed, securing a spot in the semi-finals with a timing of 22.26 seconds in the 200-metre sprint race. It’s also noteworthy that Zaheer holds the national record for the 400-metre race and recently achieved the silver medal at the Asian Indoor Athletics competition.
Seven dedicated participants, five from the Bangladesh Army and two from the Bangladesh Navy, represent Bangladesh well in the Malaysian competition. Notably, the armed forces are committed to supporting these athletes by covering their expenses, underscoring their determination to facilitate the success of these exceptional individuals.
