On June 22nd, the Bangladeshi girls confidently secured second place in the women’s junior AHF Cup hockey competition in Singapore with an impressive 7-1 victory over the host team
In addition, the Bangladesh Under-21 Hockey Team competed in the same event and advanced to the championship match. Rockibul-Aminul was thrilled to secure the title for the second consecutive time with a resounding 4-2 victory against China in the championship match.
Furthermore, the red-green team won the previous season and qualified for the Asia Cup’s main phase. This will mark female athletes’ first participation in the Junior Asia Cup Hockey competition finals.
Despite Bangladesh’s strong performance in the group stage and semi-finals, they narrowly missed advancing to the final. Bangladesh could have scored goals in the first quarter of their match against China. Zaman Ashiq’s team showed dominance by scoring three goals in the second quarter, leading to their victory. Following Mohammad Rakibul Hasan’s goal in the eleventh minute, Bangladesh took the lead. He later achieved his second goal, which counted as the team’s third goal. Amirul Islam successfully converted a penalty corner in the twenty-fifth minute.
China tried to reverse the situation in the third quarter, conceding two goals. However, Mohammad Joy’s field goal in the 53rd minute secured the victory for Bangladesh. The team rejoiced upon hearing the news of their triumph in the tournament.
