Shanice Palacios had a dream even when she was a child. By achieving her ambition at the young age of 23, this Nicaraguan model has made a significant mark in the annals of history. She was the inaugural contestant from Nicaragua to vie for the prestigious title of Miss Universe.
She earned this recognition by defeating 84 competitors from around the world. The 72nd Miss Universe pageant took place last Saturday night in San Salvador, the capital of El Salvador.
On that day, R’Bonnie Gabriel, the Miss Universe USA model from last year, crowned Shanice Palacios. The audience and contestants enthusiastically greeted the new Miss Universe with a resounding applause.
Millions of Nicaraguans sat in front of their televisions. Palacios’s remarkable achievement in Nicaragua was celebrated with great enthusiasm as the festival’s vibrant colours came to life. Ordinary people took to the streets and social media to join the festivities and commemorate this momentous occasion.

Palacios previously represented Nicaragua in the prestigious Miss World pageant in 2021. He ranked among the top 40. Miss Teen Nicaragua chose her in 2016.
