Several filmmakers have adapted Kazi Nazrul Islam’s short stories and poems into dramatic films. Quite a few people have collaborated with his characters. Several documentaries have also provided insight into his life’s various undisclosed aspects. This time, a production called “Durant Nazrul” has created a serial drama. It comprises 26 episodes and is based on the life of Nazrul Islam, a soldier.
Kazi Nazrul Islam’s life as a soldier will come up in it. Nazrul Islam and Jewel Mahmood jointly direct the play. In this context, the producer, Jewel Mahmud, said that they have been researching for three years to write the screenplay for the play ‘Durant Nazrul’. The emphasis is placed on location and costumes to bring scenes from more than 100 years ago onto screen. Kazi Nazrul Islam’s childhood is associated with Leto songs. Keeping this in mind, the Leto song performance style has been brought up.
Vijay Bangali will play the role of Nazrul in the drama. Alamin will play the role of Kishore Nazrul. The series will air on BTV at the beginning of next month. produced by Mahfuzar Rahman. The drama will show Kazi Nazrul Islam from the time his father died to the end of his military life.
Jewel Mahmud states that an event took place during the early nineteenth century. Capturing that moment in time and atmosphere was a challenge due to limited capacity constraints. The crew, known as ‘Durant Nazarrul’, made several attempts to complete the challenging assignment. The crew filmed the acting scene for the play in Sapahar, situated in Naogaon. We constructed separate sets to film specific scenes. Nazrul is a remarkable genius in Bengali literature and a marvellous talent in world literature. Despite being a renowned national poet, there must be more compelling biographical work in drama and film. Through this project, I intend to bring the life story of Nazrul Islam to the younger generation’s attention. The audience will thoroughly enjoy the play.
