Editorial

I am thrilled to witness the remarkable achievements of Bengali women who have established themselves abroad. Notably, an increasing number of women with Bengali heritage have secured higher positions in mainstream political parties throughout Great Britain in recent times.

This edition showcases an exceptional woman who has achieved many remarkable accomplishments. Among these feats, she was appointed deputy mayor in 2021 and presently holds the esteemed position of Mayor and First Citizen of the London Borough of Redbridge.

It is worth noting that in 2023, four women of Bengali descent were elected as Members of Parliament (MPs) in Britain, along with one male MP. Furthermore, three female mayors and one female speaker were also elected during this time. This trend raises questions about its underlying causes, such as whether it is linked to the current dominant role held by women in the government of Bangladesh.

In our upcoming issues, we will be conducting interviews with community activists, businessmen, and politicians from the Bengali community in order to get their perspectives on certain topics. You can tune in to our talk program on YouTube to watch live discussions and analysis on similar issues.

Congratulations to all the exemplary women who serve as role models. We take pride in your accomplishments and encourage you to continue your commendable efforts.
