Nazifa Tushi, a popular actress of the current generation, wants to take her career forward slowly. There is no rush. She talked about all this in an interview with Cinebuzz Times.
How is Tushi’s personal life?
In my personal life, I take steps with a lot of understanding, slowly. I prefer not to rush decisions. That is also true in my career. I have been working carefully from the beginning. It is not like I got a script and jumped in. I don’t just want to increase the number of works. If the audience doesn’t accept any work, there is no point in doing it. There is no rush in career like in personal life.
When did the understanding of slow movement come from?
At the beginning of my career. At that time, I was getting offers for traditional love stories with heroine characters. In most of the stories, I would get offers for supporting characters of a hero, who was only needed as a heroine. But I didn’t want to be a so-called Bengali film heroine. I waited for good characters. From that point on, I took risks in my career day after day, I was patient. But the result of my patience was wind. I didn’t know that wind would come into my life. I didn’t even know that I would become an actor. All these are the results of the slow movement policy.
Why didn’t you want to be a heroine?
I don’t consider myself a heroine, I consider myself an actress. In the beginning, I didn’t want anyone to sell my glamour or call me just because of my beauty. I could have lost my mind with this decision. But I was confident that if someone tries hard from the heart, they won’t lose. But I have to make myself important. Because this is not a competitive field.
Your first film was Ice Cream. Was acting in that rush?
I was incredibly young at the time of the film Ice Cream, 10 years ago. My first film, I didn’t understand much at that time. At first, I thought, I want to focus on films, I will be a heroine on the big screen – maybe there was some kind of fascination. I was young then, I don’t know what made me do the film. However, if Ice Cream hadn’t come into my life, not much would have happened. Film was never a wrong decision in my life. After doing it, I realized that I had a lot to learn. Then a new chapter in my life began. I started learning. After that, I didn’t make any wrong decisions in my life.
As a professional artist, don’t you have to face financial difficulties while working so selectively?
Of course, I have to accept it. If I had chased after money, I would have had a house and a car for so long. It seems to me that if I work while maintaining quality, eventually money and respect will come. Now I am getting some of the results of that. If you work for a band, there is a good respect there. Now many talented producers are calling me for decent work. I am slowly entering the hearts of the fans; this is also a blessing for me.
Have you ever had an experience where someone pulled you from behind when you did well in your career?
This experience happens all the time. I don’t mix with people in the industry much except for work. My world is exceedingly small. When Hawa is a hit, people praise you a lot. I still didn’t understand what stardom was. It was only after Hawa that the audience started recognizing me. That’s when I had a new experience. If someone does well, politics is called that. I don’t like this. Colleagues talk nonsense. Many try to ruin the branding of others. Personally, I think that if there is a particularly good understanding among our female artists, then our place will move forward, become stronger. How many times can you hurt someone by going after them? One, two, three times, but if they are honest and disciplined, then they cannot be held back. If they have the ability, they will be exposed.
What do you do to erase incidents like dragging you from your mind?
I am inspired by many writers, painters, singers, and actors. Nature also helps me to be well. My parents also inspired me. They are honest and understand the value of time. That is how they raised me. So, I am not easily disappointed.
Which directors do you get along well with?
I have a good understanding with many people including Nurul Alam Atiq, Mezbaur Rahman Sumon, Saad, Raihan Rafi Bhai. I have a relationship with everyone from the workplace. I get a little more comfort zone under the direction of those with whom I have known each other for a while, have a friendly relationship. There I will talk about Sumon Bhai. I will put him a little ahead.
Tell us about the new film.
The shooting of ‘Raid’ was completed a long time ago. Good news will come about it soon. There is some shooting left for ‘Rangamala’. I will do that in October. I have done a series with Abdullah Mohammad Saad, which will come soon. Now I am busy preparing for another new job. I will tell you about the work when I have time. I have some more work. When these come one after the other, it will make you think about how much work I do.
