The country’s renowned lyricist and composer Prince Mahmud has announced that he will not be composing songs for movies anymore. He recently announced his decision on social media.
Prince Mahmud said that he has recently turned down many big-budget film songs. Those were offers that were beyond the imagination of many. However, the lyricist has turned down those offers.
Explaining the reason behind his decision, he wrote, I have turned down many film projects. I have said no to someone who no one has turned down. There is someone who people wait to meet. It is far from receiving a phone call. But I did not go.
He then said that he sings with lofty expectations, spending effort and talent. But after singing in a film, they become the hero’s or director’s songs.
There is no identity as a lyricist or composer. Prince Mahmud does not think this is logical. He also mentioned that sometimes there is no opportunity to make effort and talent to film songs according to his wishes. And for these reasons, he decided not to sing film songs.
In Prince Mahmud’s words, I have nothing new to offer in cinema. Whatever anyone says, film songs are basically from the hero’s or director’s ideas. I do not have my own identity there. There is no point in taking unnecessary credit.
Although he has talked about withdrawing from cinema, Prince Mahmud has said that he will remain only in the world of audio songs. There he can express his creativity and thoughts through songs. Therefore, he will remain in this arena until his death.
