Zimbabwe series without Shakib-Mustafiz

The Zimbabwe versus Bangladesh Twenty20 International series will commence on May 3. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) selectors have revealed their squad of fifteen players for the first three matches in Chittagong. The squad does not include Shakib Al Hasan, the seasoned all-rounder, and Mustafizur Rahman, the spinner, who are currently playing in the Indian Premier League.

Mustafizur will return to Bangladesh on May 1, following the conclusion of the Indian Premier League season. To better manage his workload, the board has agreed to rest him for the first three games. Shakib also opted out of participating in the early matches as he did not feel physically fit to play international cricket. However, he has been performing quite well in his last two games.

The quick all-rounder Saifuddin made a comeback in the series against Zimbabwe. On October 13, 2022, he took part in the Twenty20 international final match. In addition, that was his last meeting with the global team. Subsequently, injuries to the left-handed hitter and the right-handed bowler persisted for an extended period. When the all-rounder started to perform well in the BPL after his injury rehabilitation, Lipur’s selection committee decided to promote him to the squad.

Tanjid Hasan Tamim is the new opener for the Twenty20 series. Despite not making the Twenty20 squad prior to it, he participated in the World Cup in India. Tamim won the most recent BPL with great success. He also amassed many runs in an international one-day match against Sri Lanka. Both left-arm spinners, Tanveer Islam and Afif Hossain, have formally returned to the team. Also, Parvez Emon is back.

Taijul Islam, a left-arm spinner, was a member of the squad that played Sri Lanka in the previous series. Because he was not part of the Zimbabwe series, he was not part of the World Cup preparation. Additionally, the first-order hitter, Enamul Haque Vijay, is out. Injuries will prevent Soumya Sarkar from playing in the Sri Lanka series. He might make the squad for the upcoming two games.

Zimbabwe and Bangladesh will play their first Twenty20 match in Chittagong on May 3. We have scheduled the next two matches for May 5 and May 7. The Dhaka phase’s final two Twenty20 games will take place on May 10 and 12, respectively. After finishing the series, Bangladesh will take a short break to tour the United States. There is a series between the World Cup hosts and the United States of America.

The following players will play the first three games of the Zimbabwe series: Nazmul Shanto, Liton Das, Tanjid Tamim, Tawheed Hriday, Mahmudullah, Zaker Ali, Sheikh Mahedi, Taskin Ahmed, Shariful Islam, Tanjim Shakib, Parvez Imon, Tanveer Islam, Afif Hossain, and Saufuddin.
