The Poetry of Cinema

Bangladesh’s Kazi Mahadi joins mentorship panel at Fajr International Film Festival

Bangladesh has earned a proud new milestone on the global film education map. Kazi Mahadi Muntasir, a prominent academic and media professional, has been selected as a mentor for the Talent Campus of the 43rd Fajr International Film Festival, one of the most influential film-education platforms in the Middle East. This achievement makes him the only Bangladeshi mentor chosen for the prestigious program this year.

Held in the historic city of Shiraz, widely celebrated as Iran’s cultural capital and the birthplace of legendary poets Sheikh Saadi and Hafez, the 2025 festival embraces the theme “The Union of Poetry in Cinema.” It promises to explore how poetic language and cinematic expression intertwine to shape universal storytelling.

Muntasir’s selection adds significant pride to Bangladesh’s creative community. Currently serving in the Department of Journalism and Media Communication at Green University of Bangladesh, he works at the intersection of film technology, media innovation, and academic enrichment. His role at the Fajr Talent Campus positions him among a distinguished group of international filmmakers, scholars, and industry mentors.

The recognition doesn’t stop there. Three students from the University of Dhaka have also been selected to participate in the Talent Campus, where they will immerse themselves in hands-on workshops, lectures, and collaborative sessions with peers from around the world. Countries represented this year include Iran, the United States, France, Indonesia, Türkiye, Italy, Russia, China, and Japan.

Regarded as a vital hub for film training and cross-cultural creative exchange, the Talent Campus provides young storytellers with rare mentorship opportunities from globally respected voices in cinema. For Bangladesh, the presence of both an appointed mentor and promising students highlights the nation’s expanding contribution to international film education and its evolving creative identity.

Muntasir’s journey to Shiraz stands as a reminder of how Bangladeshi talent continues to reach new global platforms, bringing with them fresh narratives, new perspectives, and the promise of a growing cinematic future.
