Disney India unveiled the new poster for “The Little Mermaid,” helmed by Rob Marshall, yesterday. The film’s trailer will be unveiled during the 95th Academy Awards.
This new poster pays tribute to the iconic 1989 film of the same name, from which the live-action adaptation is being made. The story’s protagonist is Ariel, a young mermaid princess who wants to discover the human world. The princess makes a dangerous arrangement in exchange for getting a set of human legs after a storm leaves the injured prince Eric on a nearby beach, and Ariel looks after him.
“The Little Mermaid” is based on a short story by Hans Christian Andersen and the Disney animated film. John DeLuca, who has won two Emmys, Rob Marshall and David Magee, wrote the live-action adaptation of the story.
It stars singer and actress Halle Bailey, Melissa McCarthy, Jonah Hauer-King, Daveed Diggs, Jacob Tremblay, Awkwafina, Art Malik, Noma Dumezweni, and Javier Bardem.
The film is set to be released worldwide on May 26.
