Nusrat sued for fraudulent activities

It has been alleged that Nusrat Jahan, an actress in Kolkata’s Bangla film industry and a Member of Parliament for the Trinamool Congress, has been involved in fraudulent activities amounting to Rs. 24 crores. A fraud case has been filed against her and nine others in the Alipore court. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called for Nusrat’s immediate arrest and the cancellation of her parliamentary membership following these allegations.

According to the complaint, Nusrat Jahan was the director of a housing project company named ‘Kolkata M/s Seven Senses Infrastructure Private Limited’. She is one of the three directors of this organization and capitalizing on his reputation or goodwill, the organization entered the field with a housing project for retired government bank officers. It is said that this project will be built in New Town, Rajarhat, Kolkata. For this purpose, Nusrat Jahan took an advance of Rs 5 lakh 55 thousand from 429 retired bank employees. The amount of money is more than 24 crores. Retired employees collect money from their provident fund and other sources and give it to Nusrat Jahan’s organization.

It was said that within three years everyone would be given a three-room flat. But even after 9 years, the victims still haven’t got that flat.

Earlier, the victims had approached Kolkata’s Gariahat police station on the same complaint. Despite the case, they did not get any flat or money. On the contrary, allegations have been made that they have been threatened to withdraw the case. So this time the victims have appeared in the ED office.

The complainants claim that the actress bought a flat for herself with their money. They have applied to ED to investigate the matter. And then this incident came to light. Besides, news of Nusrat’s corruption was also published in the local newspaper.

At the Calcutta News Club, Nusrat Jahan held a press conference to address accusations made against her. She explained that she had received a loan of INR 1,16,30,285 from an organisation she was associated with, which she used to purchase real estate. On May 6, 2017, she repaid the loan amount of INR 1,40,71,995, including interest. Furthermore, Nusrat has financial documentation from a bank and is capable of exceeding expectations by 300%. She also wants to clarify that she has never participated in any corrupt activities and would not even consider it for a small sum of money.

After the news of this corruption was published in the media, BJP leader and state opposition leader and BJP MLA Subhendu Adhikari spoke about the matter. He demanded that Trinamool MP Nusrat Jahan’s corruption should be investigated through ED.
