Nipun banned for life

Actress Nipun Akhtar has been expelled from the Bangladesh Film Artists Association for life. The decision was taken unanimously at the association’s executive council meeting on January 19. The information about the expulsion was confirmed by the association’s vice-president and actor DA Tayeb.

It is learned that Nipun is accused of making fabricated statements using the association’s pad unethically.

During the anti-quota movement, Nipun made a statement on July 16 using the association’s pad. In it, he referred to himself as the former general secretary. He also shared it on social media the next day.

When the issue was raised in the sixth meeting of the committee led by Misha-Dipjol on July 30th last year, it was decided to issue a show cause notice to Nipun. However, it is learnt that despite the show cause notice, Nipun did not take the issue into consideration.

Nipun has been expelled from the Artists’ Association for life for using the association’s pad and making offensive comments about the editor.

Earlier, on January 10, Nipun was detained while preparing to board a Bangladesh Biman flight to London. He was released after interrogation.
