Popular actor Mehazabien Chowdhuryhas made her big screen debut. The movie Priyo Maloti was released on December 20. Before the release, she faced controversy while promoting the film. As part of the campaign, she put up her movie poster over Suhagi Jahan Tonu’s graffiti, who was murdered in 2016, and the video spread on social media.
On the afternoon of December 18, Mehazabien went to promote the movie at the TSC area of Dhaka University, accompanied by the movie team. At that time, she put up the movie poster over the graffiti. After the controversy, she removed the poster herself.
Facing criticism over the issue, Mehazabien wrote on her Facebook page that many viewers joined us in promoting the film. Still, due to the vast crowd and unavoidable circumstances, the postering campaign had to end quickly. A poster was placed over Shaheed Tonu’s graffiti due to a mistake and unwanted mismanagement.
Mehazabien also wrote We all know that the tragic incident of Tonu and the fight for justice for her murder is still ongoing.” What happened regarding the postering was a complete mistake. We immediately removed those posters and stood and observed a minute of silence.
Inspired by a true story, Shankha Dasgupta made the movie Priya Malti. He authored the story and screenplay, and Mehazabien played the title role.
