Mahiya Mahi returns to filming with ‘Ontorjami’

Popular actor Mahiya Mahi is set to make her comeback to the silver screen with director Saikat Nasir’s upcoming film “Ontorjami”, after a long hiatus from acting. She was last seen shooting for Badiul Alam Khokon’s “Officer in Charge”.

Produced by Jaaz Multimedia, Ontorjami is being described as a “lady action movie” with no male lead. According to the production house, the film can be seen as a story that follows “Agnee 2”, though it is not a direct continuation of the Agnee series. While “Agnee” centred on revenge, Ontorjami is a survival story — one that promises to be even more thrilling and action-packed.

The film’s narrative revolves around Mahi and her nine-year-old son Mabshu. Shooting will take place in multiple locations across Bangladesh, Thailand, and the United States. Renowned Indian choreographer Baba Yadav is handling the choreography, while Jaika Stunt directs fight sequences. Jaaz Multimedia has announced that Ontorjami is scheduled for release in 2026.

Mahiya Mahi had previously taken a break from acting to pursue a career in politics. After her political endeavours did not progress as expected, she announced her return to films but had not yet resumed shooting. The actress moved to the United States last year.

Earlier, Mahi was set to make her comeback with Mostafizur Rahman Manik’s “Dark World”. She signed the project following her maternity break, and filming began on 9 October 2023. However, Mahi withdrew from the film after just one day of shooting due to personal reasons.
