The Dhaka International Folk Fest will not be held early next year. After five years, the International Folk Music Festival was supposed to be held on January 23, 2025, but that is now uncertain.
Folk Fest organiser Bengal Foundation confirmed this. They said that the Army Stadium was allotted for the festival, but the stadium authorities have cancelled the allocation for unavoidable reasons.
The company’s Associate Account Director Saifuzzaman Khan told Cinebuzz Times, “The venue allocated for the Folk Fest has been cancelled citing unavoidable reasons. All allocations have been cancelled until next February.”
Bengal Foundation Director General Luva Nahid Chowdhury told Cinebuzz Times, I will not comment on this now. We have postponed this event. We will inform you when the new date is decided.
Executive Creative Director of Sun Communication Tanvir Hossain said We were making all the preparations. We have already talked to the artists. However, the Army Stadium is going to cancel all the allocations for events from January to February. We wanted to hold the Folk Fest in January. As a result, it is no longer possible to organise it.
The first Dhaka International Folk Fest was held in 2015. At that time, over a hundred artists from five countries performed at the festival. The last Folk Fest was held in 2019.
