Shakib Khan’s film Dorod opened in 84 theatres across Bangladesh on November 15. Many people gained access to it following the student rebellion. When it came to it, there was no shortage of excitement among the players and supporters.
However, although the first release day saw a desired audience presence, the following day saw a decrease. We collected this information through conversations with the movie theatre proprietors.
According to Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, senior marketing officer for Star Cineplex, Shakib Khan is a star in the entertainment industry. When it came to his film, we had high expectations. Friday attracted a significant number of viewers.
However, we haven’t received any viewers since then. I was not anticipating this at all.
Ahsan Ullah, the manager of the Shyamoli Cineplex, also addressed a similar issue. On the first day, there were no fully booked shows. Only in the evening did ninety per cent of the audience turn up to be present. After the second day, there was a decline in the attendance.
He blamed the current state of affairs in the country for this. According to him, the current state of affairs in the nation is not good. Many people are struggling to make ends meet, and because of this, it is possible that the crowd will not come to the theatre.
We contacted Salauddin Mohammad Parvez, the operations manager, to find out the status of the Dorod of Chittagong Silver Screen. He stated that not many viewers were arriving.
The lack of an audience in the theatre is due to insufficient event promotion.
According to Iftekhar Uddin Nowshad, the proprietor of the Madhumita Cinema Hall in Dhaka, known for its traditional style, “We got a good response in the first two days.” However, the movie began to deteriorate. It lacks a touch of spirit. On the other hand, I favour devoting time to great films.
Shakib Khan stars alongside renowned Bollywood actress Sonal Chauhan in the film. Eskay Movies, based in India; Action Cut Entertainment; and Kibria Films, based in Bangladesh, produced this masterpiece.
