Back-to-Back Flops

After the release of his most recent film, “Selfie,” which performed poorly at the box office, Akshay Kumar stated: After his most recent film, “Selfie,” debuted to disappointing box office results, Akshay Kumar discussed the film’s failure. His ideas on why the film was unsuccessful.

Akshay said that it is usually the right time to reflect on his decisions when consecutive films fail commercially. The actor also noted that this wasn’t the first time his films had failed and acknowledged that he wanted to take responsibility for the film’s failure at the box office.

The last film starring Akshay Kumar, which succeeded at the box office, was “Sooryavanshi”, released in 2021 and starred Akshay opposite Katrina Kaif. The film also featured cameo appearances from Ranveer Singh and Ajay Devgn.

Speaking to the media about his three-four consecutive disasters, Akshay said, “This is not the first time this has occurred to me. I have experienced 16 consecutive failures in my career. There was a moment when I had eight unsuccessful films in a row. Currently, I have had three-four unsuccessful films in succession. The fact is that you are to blame. The audience has changed; accordingly, you must adjust and demolish yourself. You must begin over because the public requires something different.”

The “Bhool Bhulaiyaa” star also added, “It is a great reminder. If your films are not working, it is your fault. When your films flop in a row, it warns you that it is time to change. I am trying to change, that is all I can do.”

He also stated that the audience should not be blamed for a film’s failure. According to the actor, a film usually fails because it has the ‘wrong ingredients’—a decision usually made by the creators.

Akshay’s films in 2022 failed to record huge numbers. Last year’s “Raksha Bandhan” and “Samrat Prithviraj” failed at the box office. His latest outing, “Selfie”, which was released on February 24, made a disappointing opening collection amount below Rs 3 crore on the first day.
