Singer Hasan Abidur Reza Jewel fought bravely against cancer for almost a year before passing away peacefully at 11:53 p.m. on July 30th, 2019. His remarkable courage and determination inspired many during his battle with the illness.
Jewel was on life support for a few days, and there is positive news from Sangita Ahmed, Jewel’s wife and news reader, assuring the media that his health is steadily improving.
Despite not seeing improvement upon returning home, Jewel did not revisit the United Hospital in the capital.
Hasan Abidur Reza Jewel has been bravely battling cancer for the past thirteen years, seeking medical care at various facilities across the country and abroad.
According to Brother Mahibur Reza Jewel, Jewel’s burial will occur at the Bad Maghrib Banani Cemetery on Tuesday, July 30th, following the Baad Asr Janaza at the Azad Mosque in Gulshan.
In 2011, Jewel received a liver cancer diagnosis, and the disease later spread to his skeletal system and lungs.
Jewel’s upbringing and early exposure to music from neighbours during his early schooling years served as catalysts for his career in the music industry. His debut stage performance took place during his fourth-grade year.
After moving to Dhaka in 1986, Jewel actively engaged in Dhaka University’s literary and cultural activities, focusing primarily on the TSC. This marked the beginning of his involvement with various media.
Jewel’s music career includes several notable albums, such as “Kusha Pohor,” “Ek Bickele,” “Amar Ashe Ondhokar,” “Ekta Manso,” “Dekha Hobe Naa,” “Beshi Kiso Noi,” “Bedana Shudhu Sedona,” “Firti Pothe,” “Dorja Khola Bari,” and “Emon Keno Holo.”
Additionally, he released the albums “Tate Ki Ba Ase Jai” and “Ae Sabujer Dhankhet,” each containing only one song. Notably, the album “Ek Bikel” received the largest and most influential audience.
