Azad, Rashed to lead Actors Equity

Azad Abul Kalam has been elected as the president and Rashed Mamun Apu as the general secretary in the elections of the Actors equity Bangladesh.

Azizul Hakim, Md. Iqbal Babu and Shams Sumon were elected as vice-presidents in this election for the term of 2025-2028. Sujat Shimul and Razib Salehin were elected as joint general secretaries. Masud Rana Mithu won the post of organizing secretary.

Election Commissioners Naresh Bhuiyan and Faruk Ahmed announced the election results at 8:40 pm on April 19.

Earlier, voting was held at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy from 9 am to 5 pm. A total of 40 candidates are contesting for 21 posts in this election. In addition, veteran actors Mamunur Rashid, Abul Hayat and Dilara Zaman are on the appeal board.

It is known that the total number of voters in this election was 699. In this election, candidates for 2 out of 21 posts were elected unopposed. There is a fierce competition for the remaining 19 posts. Actors Azad Abul Kalam and Abdullah Rana are contesting for the post of president.

There were six candidates for the post of vice-president. They were Ashraf Tulu, Md. Iqbal Babu, SM Ashraful Alam, Ehsanur Rahman, Azizul Hakim and Shams Sumon. And actor Shahed Sharif Khan and actor Rashed Mamun Apu contested for the post of general secretary.
