Idhika Paul, a popular theatre artist from Kolkata, made her film debut in the Bangladeshi movie Priyotoma, directed by Himel Ashraf, which was released on 29 June 2023.
The movie Priyotoma is considered a U-turn in the career of Dhallywood superstar Shakib Khan. By acting opposite Shakib Khan in this movie, Idhika Paul has made a place in the hearts of the audience, especially in Bangladesh. The film made her an overnight superstar.
Idhika Paul’s second Bangladeshi movie, “Borbaad,” directed by Mehedi Hasan Hridoy, was released on Eid al-Fitr. Shakib Khan played opposite her in this movie, too. As usual, the movie “Borbaad” has received great acceptance from the audience since its first day of release in Bangladesh. This movie is still in discussion.
After “Priyotoma,” Idhika Paul is also in the discussion with her acting in “Borbaad.” That is why the actor is in a pleased mood now.
Idhika Paul said, “The experience of working in ‘Priyotoma’ was different because it was my first movie. But in the case of ‘Borbaad,’ the idea was that I had to work better to be at least a step better than my previous performance. While working on ‘Borbaad,’ I had this in mind to reach the expectations that the audience has created around me.”
“I can say that the response received after the release of ‘Borbaad’ fulfilled all my expectations. I am incredibly grateful to all the viewers, especially in Bangladesh. I am indebted to their love,” she added.
On the work front, Idhika has already completed the work of Akash Malakar’s “Bohurup” opposite Soham. Currently, she is working on the film “Roghu Dakat,” where she will be seen acting opposite Dev. Dhrubo Banerjee is directing it. Idhika said “Roghu Dakat” will be released during the upcoming Durga Puja.
