Taylor Swift to direct a film

The Grammy-winning singer Taylor Swift will make her directorial debut with an original screenplay, Searchlight Pictures, announced on December 9, 2022. The Walt Disney Co.-owned Searchlight, famed for Oscar-winning best picture winners “The Shape of Water” and “Nomadland” as well as the 2022 drama “The Banshees of Inisherin,” did not reveal the subject matter or release date of Swift’s film

“Taylor is a once-in-a-generation storyteller and artist. It is a genuine pleasure and honour to work with her as she starts on this new and exciting creative path, “David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield, presidents of Searchlight, said in a statement.

The “Shake it Off” singer was the first to win three Video of the Year honours at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards and the second woman to direct a winning Best Longform Video, which was Swift’s “All Too Well: The Short Film” from 2021.

Swift is the only female artist in the Grammy Awards history to win the highly coveted Album of the Year award three times. She has won a total of 11 Grammy Awards.

She was recently nominated for another Grammy, this time for Song of the Year for the 10-minute version of “All Too Well,” which is also eligible for the Best Live-Action Short category at the 2023 Academy Awards. On January 24, 2023, the nominations for the Academy Awards will be announced.
