Singers of all time

Rolling Stone ranked legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, also known as the “Nightingale of India,” 84th among the 200 greatest singers of all time. Also included on the list is the late Pakistani singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Additionally, Jungkook, the youngest member of BTS, and Lee Ji-Eun, better known by her stage name IU, a singer-songwriter, are listed. In contrast, Celine Dion has been omitted from the list.

A fan tweeted the following in response to Celine’s absence from the list: “Celine Dion’s absence would render a list of the greatest singers incomplete. She is one of our generation’s most talented vocalists. Do you need reminding?”

Lata Mangeshkar was honoured with both the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and the Bharat Ratna for her contributions to the music industry. She has provided her vocal talents to actresses such as Meena Kumari, Jaya Bachchan, Rakhee, Sharmila Tagore, Sridevi, Kajol, and Madhuri Dixit.

According to Guinness World Records, Mangeshkar was also the artist who recorded the most songs between 1948 and 1987. “Saugandh Mujhe Is Mitti Ki” is a tribute to the courage of the Indian Army.
