‘Payeer Talaya Mati Nai’ to compete for Oscar

The most prestigious award in the world’s film industry is the Academy Award, or Oscar. The award is given every year in a grand ceremony in Los Angeles, USA. The 96th Oscars will be held in March next year. In continuation of the last few years, a movie from Bangladesh is being sent to the Oscars.

In the 96th edition, Mohammad Rabbi Mridha’s first film, ‘Payer Talaya Mati Nai’, will compete for the category nomination in the Best International Feature Film category.

The story of the impact that climate change can have on a person’s life is the story of ‘Pyeer Talaya Mati Nai’. It has participated in festivals in various countries, including South Korea, India, Japan, Sri Lanka, Austria, London, Canada, and Australia, and has garnered acclaim.

Oscar Bangladesh Committee Coordinator Abdullah Al Maruf told the media that only two films were submitted this year. One is ‘No Soil Under Feet’; the other is ‘Going Home’ directed by Mashroor Parvez. The committee has chosen the first film among them.

Produced by director Abu Shahed Iman, the movie ‘Pyeer Talaya Mati Nai’ has National Film Award-winning actress Dipanbita Martin, Mustafa Manowar, Priyam Archie, and others acting in various roles.
